We are conditioned to get something in return for work that meets our set expectations. In starting a company, that is not the contract. No matter how hard you work or how much you talk there is no harmony with effort and results. Sure, there’s your effort, and hope, which leads to good fortune but is by no means promised and statistically not likely.
As an employee, you work and get - pay, benefits, PTO, swag, etc. Perhaps you might want more, but the expected rewards are known and reliably delivered. It’s a low dissonance formula.
In being a founder, there’s high dissonance. Dissonance everywhere you look - non-stop dissonance and it can be completely disorienting.
Thus like a duck, chaos below and calm on top as you stay the course and build.
Cheers builders!
